All For You Dad

Every year I try to do something in honor of my Father....and I always try to make it utterly ridiculous and send him a photo of it.

Some of my top contenders in years past have been:
1) Winning a pie eating contest.
My Dad and I used to eat an entire pie every Tuesday night and watch "The Gilmore Girls". We are mega pie fans and have even made up songs about it.
2) Entering and LOSING a Sumo wrestling contest.
It was all caught on video for him to and you can hear people saying, "Oh god, I don't know how good of a Father's Day gift this will be" as I declared it to the crowd before hand I was winning for my Dad.
3) Awkward pictures with actors he loves.
I hate getting photos with actors I work with. While to most people the fact I work with celebrities is amazing it's not why I got into the field I work in. They are people just like us plus I am normally to tired and busy to give a rats ass.....that being said, when I know my Dad loves a actor I'm working with I will ask them if I can get a picture for my Dad.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DAD!!!!
I wish I could be with you today. You are an amazing Father and human being! So glad I thankful I have a cool dude like you as a Dad.

Damn The Man. Takin' A Stand.

There comes a moment where sometimes the worker-bees have to take a stand.....
And on Friday night, most the people in my department did just that.
We walked off our job and said, "damn the man".
It was terrifying and exhilarating. It is a horrible idea for my bank account but a wonderful one for my soul. It's a epic moment in my career that no one can take away from me.
Everyone supported us (except the people who are the culprits for why we walked). Even a legend in the industry told us he respected our decision.
I know I am being super vague which is annoying but I wanted to share this moment with y'all. Even if it's just a brief glance with minor details.

Thank you to my fellow four amigos. I can't wait to work with you again in a few months. So proud we stood together. So happy that there are still a few people in my profession who still care about the craft in making a film and respecting each other.
*thunderous applause*
Till next time....

Tourist Pizza Day

Over Memorial Day Weekend I went to Chattanooga, TN to visit some friends.
One of my request was for us to gorge ourselves on pizza....
And, hot damn, we sure did.
First stopNew York Pizza Department and it was truly delicious.
Brooklyn style pizza is perhaps my favorite kind.....but choosing a favorite feels like a "Sophie's Choice" when it comes to my glorious pizza.

Second stopCommunity Pie.
If you live in or around the area I highly recommend it. I loved the layout and was surprised by how kid friendly it was without being to loud and/or overbearing.
Positive note: We were given crayons to color with (note: we did actually have a kid with us....so it wasn't to creepy)
Fun Fact: Whenever I'm trying a new pizza place I always get the margarita pizza. It's my go to staple and I firmly believe that if a pizza place can make a legitimately good margarita pizza it's worth returning too.

All and all, Chattanooga....you make some damn good pizza. I approve. You have my stamp of approval thus far. But don't get to cocky!

Keeping Up With Resolutions: May 2013

The amount of things that I crammed into this month is ridiculous!
Seriously....I started the month out in LA, drove back to New Orleans, then went to Atlanta. Honestly, as I write this post, I have NO clue how I did this month as I honestly don't even know what I was doing a few days ago.
So let's review, shall we?

Read a book every month:

Double whammy! I must admit, it's alot easier keeping up with this resolution when I read humorous books. I feel somewhat guilty over not reading classic novels....but clearly the guilt doesn't win as I continue to read the same sort of books.
This month was Lets Explore Diabetes with Owls by David Sedaris AND Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me by a bunch of people she f*cks with.
I enjoyed both books but David, of course, wins. Plus, the Chelsea Handler book wasn't actually written by her, it was just about her, so it wasn't as funny as her other books.
BTW, has anyone gone to a David Sedaris book signing. I've been trying to go to one for TWO FRICKIN' YEARS and my work keeps getting in the way. This man tours a lot so I have no idea how this is possible. If you have, please tell me stories. I adoooooore him and his sister Amy.

Drink less alcohol, consume more water:
87%, I have had a few power drinking nights but I have been killin' it with water.
Once again, I am just proud of myself for drinking more water. The alcohol thing may never truly calm down until I'm pregnant one day. I live in New Orleans, sue me.

Attend at least one Quaker meeting a month:
RAIN CHECK? Ok, so I know you are probably tired of hearing excuses but.....I WASN'T EVEN IN THE SAME STATE any given Sunday. I have literally been driving through states every Sunday this month so this resolution physically couldn't be completed.

Journal Often:
Failed. Oh hey there resolution I keep forgetting about!

Bake 1-2 new recipes a month:
Check. If I could say, "Go f*ck yourself" to any of my resolutions it would be this one. I always hated baking and hoped that forcing myself to do it monthly I would learn the craft and love it.....but nope! 6 months in and I hate this more then ever. I also believe that I have coined new curse words while baking.
Oh, and Lemon Blueberry Drizzle Bread, I hated baking you.

No computer use in the bedroom (but for music purposes):
Nope, I'm hoping that all the season finales of my favorite shows will help with this one.....maybe

Travel to 2-4 new (to me) cities in the US by the end of the year:
Bonus point, this month was FULL of driving all over the US. I started the month in LA. Drove back to New Orleans stopping in El Paso, Texas and Houston, Texas. Took a short road trip breather. Picked up again, this time to Atlanta, Georgia. And somehow squeezed in a mini-trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
So, no real "new to me" cities but, hot damn, I covered a lot of America this month!
*Patting myself on the back*

So yeah, I kinda sucked this month. Not surprising. I frequently have forgotten what state I'm actually in through-out this month so the fact that I remembered to even think about any of these resolutions is a surprise to me.

Were you able to keep up with your resolutions?

Got a secret, can you keep it?

I feel like a lot of bloggers are loud and proud about their blogs. They have Facebook pages for people to "like" and seem to actively be open to their friends and family about it.
For me.....it's sorta a hidden little secret.
I am so proud of this blog and love all my followers but somehow I have MAJOR issues with telling people in my real life that I "blog". Over the span of my blogs humble beginnings I have told a few friends....and those friends have probably been my most HARDCORE fans. They are the ones who will tell me to step it up when I'm slacking on post (ie like I have been recently). Or give me helpful suggestions about what posts are working or not.
Maybe one day I'll feel more comfortable.
Maybe one day I won't have a job where I feel if people found out they may fire me.
(even though as y'all know, I rarely tell you much about my job).
Maybe one day.....

Does anyone else feel this way about their blog?
So proud and wanting to tell people, but yet not being able to?

Malick Mondays

"I may have missed you.....maybe a little. NOW GIVE ME FOOD!"
-Malick

*In case you noticed, I had to slow down a little with my Malick Monday post while I was out of town. I apologize. I may have missed them more than anyone. *
